Open Source Calendar to use in my J2EE application

I am writing a J2EE application in which I need a calendar to schedule events, get callback on timeout etc. I am considering using Google calendar with its Google data api. Any suggestions on this or any other open source calendar application which I can use.

Quartz scheduler comes to mind, also maybe Yoda data_time libs.
