That looks like it's from an Ant script. Moved to the Ant forum.

OK, three questions in a row about basic Ant script coding. I suggest that you read the Ant documentation: http://ant.apache.org/manual/
The "Using Ant" section provides a decent tutorial.

To answer the specific question. First, I hope that you mistyped the property value and that it really is "${dist.dir}/${appname}.war" in which case ${appname}.war presumably will be the name of the resulting WAR file.
