Hi,

I am quite lucky to just have passed Part 1 after a weekend of walking through mocks etc. using Epractize software (not an ideal training software anyway, but it was ok).

57% required, 57% achieved. That was close. Let's call it "efficient"

Looking forward entering the download-my-assignment-jungle, probably it is still as user unfriendly as it was when I did SCJD...

Volker.

hi,

the 64 questions arose - as specified in the scea 1 exam description - from all the 8 areas (app.design, architectures, integr.&messaging, ...)

so it was exactly as expected.

i used the epractize scea 1 preparation software (mainly the 5 mock exams). the questions of the real exam are a bit more difficult, but the epractize mocks met it relatively close.

to be honest: if i didn't have real project experience in the j2ee world, i couldn't have made it within such a short preparation time. therefore i would advice exam takers to do some real projects to become familiar with the concepts and ideas. this is especially true for patterns, app.design and common architectures.

one thing about the software: the exams were ok, but the "lessons" and learning material are very poor (from my point of view) with respect to their presentation as well as their content. nevertheless useful over all.

bottom line: i cannot remember a question which was really "tricky" - the reason why i got only 57% was just my unsufficient preparation. i considered the scjp questions to be much more challenging because they were partly focused on hard-to-find details and misleading information.

my conclusion: succeeding the test is a must to start part 2+3. and nothing more than that. i am looking forward the real fun with my cigar assignment. that's why i started certification - and not some multiple choice test.

good luck to everybody.

volker.
