HI!

Greetings.
When we say session, we mean "the span of time that lasts between the user getting connected through a browser with a server application till he closes that window".
Please correct me if i am wrong or enrich the sentence above if you feel its incomplete.
Now if sessions are about active windows, then what about tabbed browsing in Mozilla or IE7?
When the user reaches/connects to the same application through a tab in the same browser window, will it be considered a new session at all?

Thanks.
Best wishes,
Suresh

In most cases all of the tabs/windows will share the same session.
Open a tab? Its the same session.
Open a new window with File:New Browser? Its the same session
With Firefox, there is only one process, so all windows share the same session.

The only exceptions I know: Internet Explorer
IE8: Has a new menu item: New Session (as opposed to new window)
IE7 and earlier: If you start a new browser from the application shortcut, it starts up with a different process, and obtains a different browser session.

Easiest way to test this out: with <% session.getId() %> on a jsp page.
While its the same, you're in the same session.
