and, Steve, make an entry in the thread called Assignment Log. After you have made your first entry in the log you update it every time you send an assignment in for nitpicking. Just delete the old entry and make a new one - don't just edit it.
You then get entered into the fancy table at the top.

hey pauline! thanks for taking notice.
i have been watching from a distance for a while... school has been HARD the past 2 semesters.
however, i finished my exams yesterday - so i can get back in the saddle this weekend! new submission of Servlets-5 is on the way.

When you start a new assignment you should send your first try to nitpick@javaranch.com

It may be nitpicked by Jason or Pauline or Marilyn. Whoever is your nitpicker for that assignment, you may send your submissions directly to that nitpicker until you have passed that assignment and are ready for the next assignment.
 
It is sorta covered in the JavaRanch Style Guide.
