Is it possible for us to post java related technical articles. JavaRanch forums are a huge sea of knowledge. i have been searching through the forums to compile a small set of tutorials. now i am planning to categorize them and post this compilation. i could have done it by reading other books. at various times i had to consult other books but these forum introduced me to several new things i never knew about basics of java. is it a way that i can post this compilation totally contributed to the RANCH COMMUNITY

I think, you should go ahead !
By compiling the good Java discussion/posts/question available here would make a good resource. We have to see what other JR seniors suggested.

I'm not sure what exactly you're thinking of, but would the format fit the JavaRanch Journal? While we haven't had one on a while, the odds of there being another issue would be greatly increased if we had articles to publish.

Or maybe the content would be a better fit for one or more, new or existing, pages of the FAQ?

But please don't post that sort of thing to the forum -- it doesn't belong here. Contributing to FAQ pages is probably your best bet.

Yes, What EFH and Ulf are suggesting is the some FAQ entry like this.
GeneralJdbcQuestions[See 'Q: Should I store my image on the database or in a file?' & 'Q: Which free drivers are available for Microsoft SQLServer?']

Obviously there are other platforms to do so. I can have a blog but the sole purpose is that, we must thnk how much knowledge is there within these forums. so many facts, views, and cross questions suggestions. But only problem is that it is unordered information. Can a java beginner move from topic to topic (in book sequence) to know more than the general books provide. Sometimes the knowledge exists but we cant access it because 1. we dont know if its there or not 2. if we know its there we dont know how to find it.

Here the purpose is to organize the conversations and discussions in a manner that anyone can traverse to the correct entry without putting up a new post. and not only search but further use the other entries to know more than what was desired by him at that point of time.

Certainly FAQs is a very good option.
