We have been made aware by some ranchers that vouchers being sold by other ranchers are advertised as being valid anywhere in the world. When they try to use them, they are told they are ONLY valid in the country where they were issued.

We have not 100% confirmed this (to my knowledge). This is just a caution to anyone considering buying a voucher over the web from a stranger.

There's some information at Sun's homepage :
When exam vouchers are purchased you have up to one year from the date of purchase to use it. Each voucher is valid for one exam and may only be used at an Authorized Prometric Testing Center in the country for which it was purchased. Exam expiration dates cannot be extended. You must register and take your exam prior to the expiration date of your voucher. Neither Prometric, Authorized Prometric Testing Centers, nor Sun Microsystems are responsible for vouchers that are not redeemed by the expiration date.

I'm going to buy a voucher from a Prometric Testing Center will I be given the free retake offer or not. my country is included in the countries which have the offer but the center knows nothing about the exam as they are going to book it for me based on the exam number I will give them.

I think it is at the discretion of Sun. Just check with the promotional offers if any was told while you took the voucher!

Am in Hyderabad, India and purchased the voucher from NIIT for Rs.6000.

Here's the contact

Prakash Chandra Tiwari
Manager -Prometric & New Technologies
NIIT Limited - Andhra Pradesh
Tel: (+91) 40-66743762 |Mo. +91)9393882873

I deposited the money into his personal ICICI bank account, and got the Voucher within 10 minutes. Voucher was just a password protected zipped PDF carrying my name and candidate ID.

Took the test at prometric at Banjara Hill, got a score of 98%

Pragya you don't need a voucher now to give SCJP exam. You can directly pay your prometric center. The cost of SCJP in India is 125$...

Shanky, as far as Oracle's site say, you don't need a voucher to give the exam now. You can still give the exam if you buy a voucher i.e. from vouchers that were released before the new policy was made. The exact cost of the exam is not given in INR on Oracle's site, so the actual price may vary at places...
