so i had JRE 1.6 installed on my machine
then i installed oracle 10g, somehow it installed JRE 1.4 on my comp and set it to default

reinstalling JRE 1.6 doesnt help , the Classpaths and paths are all JRE 1.4 and when i type
java -version in command prompt i get version 1.4

any idea regarding how to remove 1.4 and go back up to 1.6
thnx----

You could've edited only PATH to switch between JDK versions.

Oracle has a bad reputation for installing old versions of Java and editing the PATH.
