What is the minimal hardware/software setup for iPhone developement?

Hi Ranchers,

As in subject, what is the minimal Mac hardware setup to start playing with iPhone SDK? Im a complete Mac novice, having used iPhone only and eager to learn Objective-C.
There is this MacBook and Mac mini (half a price of MacBook). Mac mini seems to be a good alternative for MacBook as I already have 19" screen. But will it suffice? Is it expandible (memory)?
Is it good for iPhone? I recon that 2GB memory and Core 2 Duo 2GHz will be a good starter?

Totally, every single Mac that is out there has plenty of resources for iPhone development. This isn't the PC world where any kind of development requires much more than the standard machine. 2GB is different than 2GB in PC world where Windows is a big memory bloat. In PC you wouldneed at least 4GB of Ram, 2GB in Mac is more than enough.

Thanks Mark. I think I will go for MacBook. I just hope that there is Heroes of Might and Magic 3 version for Mac. That is all I really need

I did some basic on iphone development ( purely for learning purpose )... and older xcode doesn't have iphone SDK...You need to download xcode latest version to reflect iphone simulator and SDL functionalities..

As on 24th August 2009, i downloaded iphone_sdk_3.0__leopard__9m2736__final.dmg ( its 2gb), I wonder why there is no upgrade available had to complete remove the old Xcode.

Better to remove the old one
