Ruby and Python are always discussed, how does Groovy fit in?

I'm not asking for which is better, just wondering why Groovy isn't mentioned/discussed as much as the other two languages when it comes to scripting.

One reason might be that it's the youngest kid on the block (1.0 release was in January 2007). Another could be that it relies on the JVM, which makes it a non-starter for some/many people.
 
With a little knowledge, a cast iron skillet is non-stick and lasts a lifetime.
