How can i read internet explorer proxy settings programatically  RSS feed

Is it posible to read/change internet explorer proxy settings?. I cannot find any related information.
Maybe through wininet.dll but i don't know how to.

I seriously doubt it--consider the security implications if I could suddenly route all your requests through my proxy.

I can't imagine doing this in Java.
Now since Windows is mostly a collection of DLLs, in theory you could write some C level (perhaps C++ or even C#) and try to access them. If there are no system-wide security guards to keep you from looking. Most DLLs are read-only, even Microsoft knows to make them not store preferences, etc.

I expect that the information is really kept in the registry.
