I've recently delved into learning java web development, while concurrently learning the stripes web development framework. At this point, I'm interested in learning a java ORM. However, I don't know which one I should learn or how best to learn it. The stripes book uses hibernate, which seems to be the defacto standard. Can anyone recommend an ORM and how best to learn it? Thanks.

There are a half-dozen ORMs (at least) that see regular use. Hibernate is easily the most popular right now. Ask yourself why you're trying to learn about ORM, then ask how you best learn: things like Hibernate and iBatis have in-print books, most of the others don't. If you're fine with web- and mailing-list-only docs, then that's less important.
