Hi,
Can anyone help me in starting my tomcat? I have set the tomcat preferences in my eclipse IDE but on starting the server I am getting a Bind exception.
I have set the environment variables like CATALINA_HOME,JAVA_HOME,CLASSPATH .Where could be my mistake?

There's either already a Tomcat running, or something else is using the port.

What OS are you using? Whether Windows or Linux you can use the netstat app to determine which app is already using port 8080. Of course another option is to modify Tomcat's server/xml file to specify a different port, but if you do that you might also have to tell Eclipse about the new port (not sure on that point...).

My netstat window does not stay longer so that I can read something. It vanishes immediately.
But I could make it work by changing the server.xml port to 80.There was no need to change it in Eclipse.
Thanks .

Um... run netstat from the command line.
