i want to monitor a running java application in order that i can log its status.
i need to track all the exceptions thrown by the application as it runs and log this
information to the database. how do i proceed?

the application i want to manage does not implement the JMX API and thus cannot be managed through the MBean interface.

help will be highly appreciated

Do you need monitoring or logging? log4j can already write its data to a DB. Or are you saying that you can't change the application in order to monitor it? If so, does the app write exceptions to a log file that you can tail and/or parse?

Looks like this is a duplicate of listening for method invocation. I think I will close this thread. Further discussion should be help in the other one.
