To build an online website builder

Hi experts,

I want build to build a website buider in java that contains drag & drop functionality for editing templates of websitesI need to build a replica of the site www.moonfruit.com
I want to know what framework would i use for building this in java whether it shuold be swings,awt or some other i need to integerate in java like flex or something.And i also want to know how to get started with this.Please advise me.Its really urgent

Hi Manpreet,

If you are aiming to make a website builder as moonfruit.com (being a thin client), I dont think AWT or Swings might be useful.

And if you observe that website, it is made of Adobe flash(atleast the section to build the website). So they may have used some framework with Adobe Flex to build the swf from mxml file.. And this mxml can be either used to create thin client by embedding the compiled swf into the web page or as a thick desktop application by using Adobe AIR technology.

If you are interested in doing this with Java technology, I would prefer to use some Web 2.0 technology that would make the client browser thicker. Basically Javascript can be used with some framework like GWT that would give you a richer UI interface.

Also try exploring Javafx..

Is there any way that i can integrate WYSIWYG(Web Builder 6) editor into my website builder application.??

I am not very sure about Web builder 6. But a google search gave me many tools that provide WYSIWYG capability that can be embedded in a web page.

Is there any Api available for (flash or any other) web builder editor that we can embedded into our application.??If you have any other alternate way to embedded web builder editor into our web application then please help me

If I understand your question correctly, you are asking- if there are some APIs to access a web editor(like Flex builder) so that you can include their functionality into your website. I dont think we have such an API. And since you are trying to build an online website builder, you would probably need a javascript library for the controls.
