when i use the following code in
JSP
in struts2 , it give a error saying "> expected"

Why can't the following code be used to do what you want, why are you using scripting??
*******************ans=<s:property value="#request['flatID']" />
Just plain template text and
struts
tag. I'm unable to understand the second question...
