Im using JBoss 5.1 and am in need of notifying my web client if the jboss server shuts down, probably with reason....

Im a newbie to web related technologies................ Can anybody let me know on how to approach this issue.......

HTTP is request driven. You can't push stuff out to a web client, you can only make it appear that this has happened. What you could do is include an AJAX ping function that polls the server and updates the view should it not respond (though how your get a reason from a server that is not longer running may be tricky!). The big downside to this approach is you have removed any hope of a session timeout ever happening while the user's browser shows your application regardless of whether they are using it.
