Hi Guys,

Please, i would like to know by clicking a web site and reading some articles in it. Does the owner of the web site being paid by the internet provider for the hours people spend browsing the web site.

For example, thousands of people are browsing javaranch.com and other web sites. How much do the owner of the web sites collect ?

Paid by the internet provider? No, it's the other way around. The internet provider has expenses to pay, like renting space in a building and buying server computers and hiring people to make sure they keep running. So generally the people who run the web site pay for that service.

So where do web site owners get paid? Well, some of them don't. Some of them just post the web site because they want to, and pay for doing that. But some of them do manage to earn money. Some charge their users to access the site -- you don't see that very often, and you'll notice you aren't paying anything to access this site. The commonest way to earn money is to allow other people to advertise on your web site; you may have noticed advertising here, for example.

$0.00

actually $-X.XX

The owner of the site pays the hosting provider for bandwidth used and server space. Hosting is not cheap.

Bigger the site, the more money it costs to run. Sites make money by ads, and those ads bring in pennies for 1,000's of impressions.

Where do you think it comes from? Do you think that Google has an ISP that pays it billions to use them?
