Hi Friends,
I passed
SCEA Part 1 (310-052) exam today. The score was not upto my expectation though. I thought of sharing my thoughts till they are very fresh in my mind.
Couple of points I would like to share with you all.
First of all, there is NO good information available on the net on how to prepare for 310-052. Most of the study material, dumps available are for 310-051 exam which Sun has discontinued.
I prepared from standard texts for the exam, but the real exam was way different than my expectations. I answered most of the questions based on my rea life, practical experience. I have been working in
Java for over 10 years now and still consider myself learner. There are lot many facinating things to learn :-)
Most of the questions were on the problem statement and choices on how would you solve the issue stated. There were no standard questions on Deployment discriptor or any specific annotation, which completely surprised me. I put lot of efforts in memorizing the annotations used in
EJB 3 etc, but it was of no use.
I am not sure if there is any standard text book available to prepare for the exam. I did not use any exam simulators and that is why was not prepared for the type of questions.
Unfortunately, we dont get to know the mistakes made in the real exam, so that we can learn from them.
I would suggest preparing for the exam topics from J2EE tutorial, Sun specs for various technologies such as JMS,
JSF, JAAS, Core Java and Core J2EE patters from Blueprints website etc. Count 6 weeks of preparation time.
Lastly, devote some good time (about 2 weeks) only in answering the mock exams. I have not come across any free mock exams for this exam. Would appreciate if someone can update the community if it is available. Whizlabs is too expensive, costs almost the exam cost :-)
Hope it helps.
Cheers,
- Manoj
