Dear All - Not sure how to get started with SCJD? Can any body assist me on this?

What book are there in the market to prepare for the same?

Does the SCJD for J2SE 6 exist in the market?

Any idea about the time frame required for completing preparation.

No it does not but the one made for JSE 5 is sufficient.

My recommendations are a combination of the following.
SCJD book for JSE(Apress).
Java RMI(oreilly) for a good RMI explanation.
Effective Java by Joshua Bloch for excellent explanations on proper use of the JSE jdk.
Java Cookbook(oreilly) For useful ideas on utility classes (the book is full of them) and as a developer you are expected to create reusable code.

These are the only books I used and if you are worried about cash then head over to safari books online where you can access many amazing books and code for a decent monthly subscription.

These forums are very good too and offer friendly advice.

Howdy, y'all.

Just one consideration, please take a look here for details about how to get the assignment.

And about the book, our good buddy Andrew is one of the authors of the best reference for this certification: SCJD Exam with J2SE 5, Second Edition.
