Hi,

I have an urgent assignment to convert various file formats to PDF using java. I have gone through few APIs and not successfull so far. Can anyone give me a solution to this problem? Is thr any libraries i can use to do this???
The important thing is various file formats should be converted by the program.

thanks in advance.

Prasath.

It's hard to give specific advice since you don't say exactly which formats fall under "various formats". The most general approach to recommend would be to use the JODConverter library, which uses OpenOffice in server mode to convert between a variety of formats, including PDF as target format.

Thanks a lot Ulf Dittmer, i went through the library you suggested and found in helpful, havent tried it yet though.

The formats i wanted to convert are :

.rtf Rich Text Format File
.wpd - WordPerfect Document
.wps - Microsoft Works Document
.odt - Open Office Document
.odp - Open Office Presentation
.xps - Microsoft's "PDF"format
.svg - Scalable Vector Graphics File
.wri - Microsoft Write
.wst / .wsd - Word Star
.drw - Drawing File
.eps - Encapsulated PostScript File
.ps - PostScript File
.fnt - Windows Font File
.fon - Generic Font File
.otf - OpenType Font

This is a server product so running a desktop editor is not a good answer. Can i do this with JODConverter library??? If there are better ways please suggest them too.

Thanks again.

Like I said, JODConverter runs OO in server mode. You may want to read up on what that means (a little hint: it's perfect for server apps :-)

.fnt - Windows Font File
.fon - Generic Font File
.otf - OpenType Font

What does it mean to convert font files to PDF?

Thanks a lot Ulf Dittmer. It should fit my requirement. I'll work on it and get back to you. Those font file formats also stated in the requiement, need to clarify that. Thanks for the help.
