Hello,

After an intense prep. period of 1.5 weeks, I've managed to obtain this cert. thanks to the efforts already put in by Watsh Rajneesh, Ivan Krizsan and Mikalai Zaikin. A big thanks to JavaRanch, and to all those who had posted their experiences on this forum.

Preparation:
I was a complete newbie to the various Web Services technologies, and the first 3 chapters of Watsh Rajneesh's study notes helped me get introduced to them. His notes are very detailed and worth reading if time is not a constraint. In my case, it was a big constraint (voucher expiry date was 11/10).

So, I moved on to Ivan Krizsan's study notes which are very focused on the exam objectives, have excellent code examples, and detailed steps to execute them. It took me a while to setup Eclipse, Glassfish, jUDDI, etc., but the time spent was worthwhile, as building and running the examples helped drive home the concepts perfectly.

Once I felt comfortable with the various technologies, I started reading MZ's notes. It is a must read for the exam.

Reference Material:
* Watsh Rajneesh's Study Notes
* Ivan Krizsan's Study Notes
* Mikalai Zaikin's Study Notes
* WS-I Basic Profile 1.1 (most of it is covered in MZ's notes)
* The various posts on this forum

Mock Exam:
* Mikalai Zaikin's Quiz (Very good. I had scored 67% in it, which is very close to my final score)
* Wanted to take Whizlab's trial exam, but did not get the time for it

Final Exam:
* Very tough. Time is enough (150 mins).
* 10-12 snippets of code/schema/WSDL/SOAP messages.
* One drag-and-drop question related to schema

Wishing the best of luck to all the aspirants

Anah,

Please take a look at the list of Oracle exams

All Java exams are located in "Middleware" section.

Oracle WSD 6.0 exam is not released yet. Beta has closed, but production exam should be available in 1...1.5 months. Besides exam not available, the objectives are also not available -- there is a list of topics, but they (topics) are too vague.

If you worked with EJB -- you can take either production SCBCD 5.0, or prepare for JEE 6 EJB test (EJB 3.1 spec -- the best study guide IMO ;) ).

If you worked with Servlets -- you take either production SCWCD 5.0, or prepare for JEE 6 Servlets & JSP test (Servlet 3.0 spec + JSP spec + EL spec).

None of the Oracle (Sun) exam include Struts (since it's a third-party framework)

As for SCDJWS 5.0 (or forthcoming SCDJWS 6.0) -- it's one of the toughest if not the toughtest Java exams, there is no single study guide for SCDJWS, like for SCJP, SCWCD or SCBCD.

Best regards,
MZ

Hi!
My SCDJWS 5 study notes PDF is available for free and can be downloaded immediately after registering (free) on Slideshare.
This document is complete in the sense that it covers all the certification topics. I do not promise that it covers everything about each topic, though.
