The IMSS Research Laboratory (www.imss.reading.ac.uk) within the School of Systems Engineering invites applications from candidates with strong software engineering capability and a research interest in internet-enabled technologies, and, the vision of pervasive-cooperative ambient intelligence environments. The IMSS Research Laboratory is offering to self-motivated individuals the following opportunities to work within a highly creative team and enjoy an interesting international collaborative environment of emergent technologies research with ample opportunity for presenting their work at centres of excellence in Europe and worldwide. Successful candidates will be able to satisfy the essential requirements as set out in the person specification document as well as specialist capabilities in any one of the areas listed below:
Knowledge Based Systems, Semantic Modelling & Virtualisation, Middleware, Sensor networks, Ambient Intelligence Environments, Semantic Workflow Integration, 3D-Immersive Media Experience Environments, Data Mining, Speech and Scene Understanding.
The posts are open to candidates with a PhD or MSc qualification in Computer Science plus evidence of strong software engineering capability; exceptionally applicants with an appropriate BSc Honours degree can be considered provided that they can demonstrate evidence of R&D experience particularly involving a substantial element of software engineering.
