Two years old can be a good prop is you consider a crime.

When I was a child (I guess 8-9 y.o.) our neighbor left us the keys from her apartment. One day I was home alone and a guy showed up with a little girl. He said he is our neighbor's relative and he needs the keys. I figured 1) he knows we have damn keys 2) he has a child with him! What kind of a criminal takes a child with him while on duty? (At least none of he crime movies I've seen had this arrangement.) So I gave the keys. Fortunately, the guy was really her relative.

Also, I've heard from San Francisco panhandlers that if you have a child with you, you can make up to $300 a day (rather than normal $70-80). Something to think about.

Break-and-enter specialists. You push the small child through the cat door and have them unlock the door from the inside. Actually happened somewhere around where I live. But I'm not surprised it hasn't been in the movies. Not nearly sensational enough.

I see now I was missing the second step
1) push child through cat door
2) ???
3) profit!
Steps one and three are not sufficient.

I have two year old nephew. Very useful at times.
Every now and then, when I mess something up I blame it on him. He can't talk so he finds it hard to get out of an impending predicament! I do try to bail him out though. Win-win for both of us!

Grown up females of our species have strong maternal instincts. If you are seen in some place with a small kid, these females invariably smile. You can pretend they are smiling at you even if they are not, or even smile back. If the kid is really cute, there is a good chance that some of these above mentioned females will stop and admire the kid while you secretly admire them.

Think out of the box. Grandmothers indicate granddaughters!

Let me tell you a story about a man named Jed. He made this tiny ad:
