JForum new user creation

I would like to participate and contribute to the JForum. But there seems to be no way to join the team or register as a new user in the JForum website. Do we use our javaranch userid and password for JForum as well?

Yes, this has been reported earlier too, here. It looks like the JForum user forums are no longer maintained.

No. They have their own separate user accounts, since JavaRanch is not related to JForum, although we do use the open source JForum product here.

The last released version of JForum was version 2.1.8. The JForum team is working hard on developing a brand new, very different JForum 3. In the mean time, they haven't been updating the web site, and their forums at jforum.net seem to be closed down. But we've been in touch with them just recently and it sounds like they'll be relaunching with JForum 3 very soon. The project is not dead.

Javaranch is using our own version of JForum 2.1.8. It's so heavily modified, and JForum 3 is so different architecturally, that the JForum team isn't interested in our changes. So this is effectively a fork -- although at this time we have no plans to distribute it.

Do you mean to say it isn't possible to participate in JForum 3 development activities?

We really don't know any more about it than you do, except that we talked to the dev team recently and so we know that the project has not been abandoned. I don't know if they are looking for help or not.
