I have requirement to define how the parser identifies uniqueness between values of same element

For Example: The parser should report aaa and aa-a as violation of identity constraint

and I want presence of certain characters to be ignored while calculating uniqueness

Can someone help me how to define such requirement in xs:unique

It is sorta covered in the JavaRanch Style Guide.
