Connecting DB with applets

Hi all,

I am new to java. I would like to connect my applet with the DB(mysql) . Is it posible. Please refer me a book that can give better understanding on how to develop a stand alone application s/w

If you're new to JDBC (the Java API used to connect to DBs), then the Sun Java Tutorial will help: http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/jdbc/index.html. You'll need to add the JDBC driver jar file to your applet tag using the "archive" attribute.

Note that for security reasons, the DB must be on the server that hosts the applet. Also for security reasons, using JDBC in applets is frowned upon. It might be OK for intranets, but don't do it over the Net.
