Hi,

I am trying to run a web service using axis 1.4 . So as I was told I pasted the folder named "axis" from the "webapps" in axis1.4 distribution into "lib " directory of the apache tomcat 6.0 I have.

But when i start the server I get the following message:

SEVERE: Error listener start

and also

SEVERE: Context [/axis] startup failed due to previous error.

I found the following error message from localhost2009-11-27.log file.

Nov 27, 2009 9:56:59 PM org.apache.catalina.core.ApplicationContext log

SEVERE: Skipped installing application listeners due to previous error(s)

I checked the servlet api in lib of tomcat but it obviously had the class which the log was mentioning as missing.

even the axis.jar had the following:
org.apache.catalina.core.StandardContext listenerStart

Please somebody tell me what is happening and what could be the solution for this.

thanks in advance,
-aravind
