Hi
i'm not sure if this is the right place to post, but here it goes:
i'm building a stand alone application (app) connected to a database (db)
i'm using ant to run and build the jar
among others things the user can display pupil's photos, chosen from a list
as more pupils are added to database, the user has to add the respective photos to some folder
i want the jar to be independent from the pupil's photos - so these dont appear in the jar, just get stored somewhere
the code i'm testing is inspired from sun java tutorials:

from my tries i came to the conclusion i can store the photos even from the outside of the whole app - and that's good, because all the user has to do is keep adding photos to a certain place - the code knows how to get them
so far so good, but this creates a problem: at a certain point that place will be full of photos - so i'd like to have a folder called, lets say, photos, where user would keep the fotos
unfortunately my code cant read;

is there a way to turn this around?

hope i made myself clear and thanks in advance
