Hello Sir,

Can we say ICEfaces 1.8 to be the most efficient framework till now for developing modern, real world web application?

Thanks

The efficiency is not the only one dimension of the problem.

By the way, has to be analysed from many point of views.

What is excellent in Icefaces is the way you are building pages without explicitly need to write for AJAX, but at the end the page is refreshed with AJAX technology.

Switching from non-ajax development into ajax development seems to be painless from the developer perspective. But stress testing or moreover functional testing seems to be more challenging.
Many stress testing tools are supposed to be AJAX enabled, but it isn't. Those who only capture the http traffic, in fact cannot cope well with Icefaces applications.
I found that the only viable testing environment still cope with Icefaces and this is the HtmlUnit. Also Selenium is a bit dirty, you have to use tricks.

It depends ;-). For us it was the best solution when I did the JSF open source framework reviews about 2 1/2 years ago in our still ongoing project. I'm still a fan of what ICEfaces delivers ;-). Especially the AJAX Push stuff that allows to create collaborating clients is a great tool these days. We were looking for a tight integration of Facelets and a strong skinning concept those days.

I suggest that you define a small prototype, implementing the most important/risky functionality, and try all those frameworks you may think of having a certain quality to your needs. The quality of a framework depends on your requirements in the end.

From the technical point of view ICEfaces is one of the leading implementations. Its AJAX Push is without a doubt cutting edge. I expect that the ICEfaces 2.0 release will extend ICEfaces lead. The first alpha release is already available.
