Hi All,

Has anyone used BIRT?

How is it for the purpose of scheduling reports using various databases.

Yes.

BIRT does not inlcued a scheduling component - you would need to incorporate one. The designer is probably a little too technical for a business user, it doesn't yet have lots of helpful wizards etc. so the report writer is going to have to understand SQL at the very least. The designer is integratable so you can dress this part up too if you like.
