I am exploring the possible efficient ways to copy data from Sybase Database to Oralce database. The possible ways can be:
1) Use ETL tool to copy the data.
2) Simply use standalone java programs via JDBC connection, copy data. Can also make it java batch job.
But still i think, there are more efficient standard ways to copy data. I will appreciate the suggestions.

There are not likely to be more efficient ways than an ETL tool, this is their sole purpose.

"Standard" is not really applicable here. Performant data transfer relies heavily on the specifics of the databases you transfer things between.

Thanks Paul for your reply. It is helpful.

Standard in the sense, i meant to know the most used and preferred method to perform the copying operation. Which eventually becomes kind of standard in the java community.

It isn't obvious to me why the "Java community" should have a standard way to transfer data between Sybase and Oracle. On the contrary, I don't think such a standard way is any of the Java community's business. Java doesn't have any special expertise at all in this area.
