I'm starting a new project in Java but i dont know the best way to do it (OpenSource base solution) so am asking for some advice/experience.

I want a server and client
An encrypted connection over internet
The server accepts connections on some port checks perrmisions of the user which logged in. Acces the databese server and returns the data to the client. Has logging ability (has history of users acctions) and it should have an orm like hibernate in it.

What way would you do it? Would you use spring (for what)? Hibernate?

Thnx in advance

The basics of Java socket networking -including a client/Server pait- are explained in the Sun Java tutorial: http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/networking/sockets/index.html

On top of the streams created by the sockets you'll want to use appropriately instantiated javax.crypto.CipherInputStream and javax.crypto.CipherOutputStream, respectively.
