Hi guys,

I have joined in a software firm recently. I am under the training phase of the firm.

I was asked to do a simple project on java web services.

I will give my project below

Please do a sample project, find the requirements below
1) A java class that will expose two methods
a)AuthenticateUser(userId)
b)getStockQuote(Sting stock symbol)

the project is that i must have some authentication mechanism for user login which i can do

but the next one i have to provide the stock prices based on the stock name given to me. but how will it be given to me and how to get it..

Let me put it straight out guys,

the problem is i don't know anything about java web services

My mentor(who gave me the project) asked me to study java annotations.(does my projecy has anything to do with java annotations)

As i said earlier i dont have any idea where to start my project.

The beautiful and cheerful part in this is that i have to submit it by wednesday (How's that)

So can you guys please help me
I will condense my doubts as the following questions:

1)can you please provide me some websites where they have working examples for webservices( I am reading some books which discuss the theroy of web services for 100 pages and they havenot started any examples still)
2)where should i start
3)what is java web services composed of?

Please guys help me

Go to metro.dev.java.net and download Metro 2.0. It is a full implementation of all relevant Java web service APIs, including JAX-WS (which works with annotations). It also comes with many example, ranging from simple to difficult. You will need a servlet container such as Tomcat to run it. There's also much online documentation in the "Discover Metro" and "Use Metro" sections. A general introduction to WS is at http://www.w3schools.com/webservices/default.asp. Good luck.

Hi!
An "old" favourite is: http://netbeans.org/kb/trails/web.html
Tutorials showing how to develop web services, from beginner's level and up.
Good luck!
