I have started using OGNL in my struts-2 application and I have been asked to clarify why it is used...

I need to know about the memory consumption in using OGNL...

what else are it's advantages??

JSTL-EL,velocity,groovy are the others i know ...

OGNL is substantially more powerful than JSP EL (look at the OGNL user guide). It's also pretty slow.

I'm not sure what the current status is, but there was some talk about allowing the use of MVEL (fast) and the JSP EL implementation might even already be in--I've been out of the loop for a few months.

What other factors? What are you trying to learn?

Look at the OGNL documentation, then compare it to JSP EL. I have no idea if there are any memory leaks, if there are, they're not significant.

Don't get me started about those stupid light bulbs.
