Welcome to the Ranch! First things first, we have a policy that your display name be a real (or at least real sounding) name. one of the sherriffs will most likely be sending you a message to change it shortly.

If you don't have much knowledge, I recommend Head First Java by Sierra & Bates. Good for learning the basics of Java. From there, if you want to do the SCJP exam, I recommend the SCJP Study Guide by Sierra and Bates (same authors as the first book). It is one of the standards for preparing for the exam, especially since they helped write the actual exam.

The best advice you could possibly get: Write a lot of code ;-)

Programming is not so much about the syntax and all those basics, it's about experience. When writing code you'll come across so many problems and obstacles which once handled will make you become more and more confident in what you are doing.
