hi,im new to Hibernate (ORM methodology),i was just wondering when you can insert, delete, update using :

which for a core java programmer who doesnt have knowledge in SQL will be easy to use rather than goin for HQL, where you need to know/follow SQL-like syntax

so why we are goin for HQL and what is its advantage ?

advance thanks...

hbm2ddl is for creating sql commands from hibernate mapping files. Normally you'd do the operations in question using normal hibernate method calls or from something like spring's convenience classes.
