error msg when I try to pull up a web page for my online schooling

Please help me . Going to school online and I cant access my assignments or readings, When I click on the coarse material link, for lets say my readings, I get a blank page. A new window pops open but it is blank. The error msg I am getting is this:

Message: Can't move focus to the control because it is invisible, not enabled, or of a type that does not accept the focus.

and the full message is this:

Greetings and Welcome.

As being an on-line instuctor, what i always tell my students to do, is to contact the support line (ie: the help desk) at your institution. You should have been provided with a telephone number and they should be able to walk you through the issue.

Well I would email the school and tell them about the problem. Seems the most logical step.

I would try to use Firefox http://www.getFirefox.com instead of IE and see if that works.
OR
run IE8 in compatibility mode: http://blogs.msdn.com/ie/archive/2008/08/27/introducing-compatibility-view.aspx
