Hi! Can we use tomcat for hosting commercial live web applications? Is there any know commercial successful web applications running on tomcat server ?

Yes, there are. I've been involved with numerous such sites, including a very large public travel booking site (the name of which I can't mention). Tomcat is commercial-grade if that's what you're wondering.
