how to make browser identify java from installed java package?

hi every one,

how to make browser identify java from installed java package (JDK and JRE)?

Note: I havenot installed java in my system, rather i have installed java package

I have an installed java package (both JDK and JRE) in a directory. Now, iam facing problem running applet in the browser (since java plugin for browser is not there)...... Is there any way to make my broser recognise java from java directory for running my applet?

If the Plugin is not installed,then there's nothing your web page can do about that, except indicating to the browser/user to install it: http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/guide/plugin/developer_guide/using_tags.html

Why the specific version? Also, Java 5 has been officially made obsolete by Sun, so you should not install it anywhere.
