This week's book giveaway is in the Testing forum. We're giving away four copies of The Way of the Web Tester: A Beginner's Guide to Automating Tests and have Jonathan Rasmusson on-line! See this thread for details.
As part of the study of JVMTI we are developing a tool which wil get the information from the running java applications. We are thinking of a 2 Tier model- users will use the Client (Java) to get information from the server (native implementation of jvmti). The communication wil make use of JDWP. But Sun Java already provides a reference implementation for JDWP. We searched a lot for getting sample implementation but we couldnt find any. Can anyone give us an idea of how to go about implementing JDWP from scratch. We have implemented jvmti as a stand alone and attached the agents while launching the java applications. But we want to inspect the java application from another java client (a different process).
Also the JVM TI interface mentions that we can attach the agents to the live java application but they havent mentioned how. Can someone help us in this direction.
Any kind of links/tutorials/forums discussions will be of great help.
