Didn't you say awhile back you were done posting here? You were taking your keyboard and going home. Delete every post I ever made

I can't delete your posts and I don't even want to. Let them be an exhibition of stupidty and an example of american centric 'uebermensch' mistake. But I'll remember every one of your postings. Just a couple of hours and your 'civilization' (mind the quotes here) is about to destroy the roots of the entire western civilization. Thank you. not.

I wonder what American Eagle was censored for in this discussion, -- he must have said something really good (he usually does). What's the sensorship policy here? Would my post be deleted if I said that I am sexually attracted to Saddam (he's got really sexy mustache) and would like to have it with him in a
Variant Yawning Position (allows for deepest possible penetration)?
On a more serious note, there is a theory that men like to fight wars to compensate for their inability to menstruate, -- every human being needs to shed blood once in a while. And the missiles are just the phallic symbols when it comes to dividing the territory among the country leaders. Whoever phallus is greater claims the territory. But I might be wrong about the war in progress, -- as my uncle Zigmund likes to put it, sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.
What I really would like to know is, has anyone changed his/her opinion as a result of the 500 posts in this thread? I bet you that Jos A. Horsmeier is as hateful of americans as ever, despite our collective attempts to persuade him that we are the liberators. And American Eagle is as convinced about the American values as ever, despite beign denied his freedom of speech here. So, what's the point? The "war/no war" discussion is like the "God/No God" discussion, -- little logic with a lot of hand waving and emotions.
Can we talk about partial birth abortions or at least prescription drugs for seniors, please? If not, I threaten to go "unregistered" and make provocative posts. Then you will all feel the might and power of my Russian-American word, to its fullest extend! I am giving you all a 48-hour ultimatum to wrap up this discussion and comply with my demands.
Eugene.

The general guideline is that this site is a "friendly place for Java Greenhorns", and it is conceivable that anything which goes against that might be considered unacceptable for the site's image. That being said, in practice the things most likely to get deleted or edited include repeated blatant insults, hate-speech, threats, sexual content that is likely to offend, or anything else that might cross the line or be detrimental to maintaining the site for its intended purpose (a friendly place for Java greenhorns).
Keeping in mind that many of the Sheriffs spend a good deal of time in here as well, there are likely to be things which one moderator feels may cross the line that another does not, so what gets deleted (if anything) may vary from moderator to moderator. Similarly, posts which may seem to cross the line may be left undeleted in order to fulfill some nefarious purpose of the moderators while others which may not have seemed to bad are deleted or edited.
It's not a precise science, but the overwhelming concensus amoung the moderators is that we would rather remain as hands off as possible, although the extent to which that is possible is ultimately the responsibility of each individual poster. For those who weren't here around 9/11, things got out of hand and it was pretty much open warfare in here, so there may be some extra sensitivity up front, world events being what they are, to ensure that we don't go that route again.
Personally I enjoy the chaos and thrive on it, and if it weren't for this shock collar that the Sheriff's put on me to keep me in line.... But I digress. The bottom line is that we should all strive to play nice, avoid blatant personal attacks and insults, avoid insults and hate-speech aimed at entire classes of people, and conduct ourselves as the intelligent adults most of us are. Subtle rorschach insults are always to be appreciated and admired though.

It amazes me that in a thread called no war so much intolerance & hate is shown by the person that started the thread.
It's is so easy to be morally correct & do nothing. I worries me that my friends here at the Ranch are prepared to kill, but I know that quite a few lost friends & family when the two towers collapsed. So I try and understand their feelings.
And yes you may say that Saddam had nothing to do with that, but he sure is capable & more than willing to do something just as bad or even worse.
Jos take that oh so typical Dutch Moral "finger" & shove it somewhere where it will give you pleasure
From another Dutchman that is also against the war, but one that believes it is also morally incorrect to insult & judge others.

Kind of like the US Supreme Court definition of pornography: "you know it when you see it". Is there such as thing as "too much freedom of speech?"

[Eugene]: I wonder what American Eagle was censored for in this discussion, -- he must have said something really good (he usually does).
Nothing too juicy. A fairly short post which contained a direct insult to another poster. The sort of thing that sometimes passes without comment and sometimes not; since it came just after we chastised someone else for that sort of thing it seemed best to remove it. To his credit, <AmericanEagle> seems to have gotten the point quite well and refrained from such insults in his subsequent posts. Unlike some others. <cough>

Here is a nice summary of this type of conversations. I guess, the opposite side can easily produce a similar transcript...

Zou je dan zo vriendelijk willen zijn om je stupide persoonlijke beledigingen voor je te houden? Dankjewel. Wie denk je trouwens wel dat je bent?
Translation: then, would you be so kind to keep your stupid personal insults to yourself? Thank you. Who do you think you are anyway?

Jij denkt dus dat jij wel het recht hebt mensen te beledigen.
Kom op Jos. Zelf ben je heerlijk bezig iedereen even te vertellen hoe slecht ze zijn.

Come on Jos. You are having fun telling everybody else how bad they are.

For one thing: I didn't start insulting other people by assuming the role of a world liberator and therefore bastardizing other people's opinion.
[Inflammatory comments deleted -JM]
Last: I'm not throwing stones, it's the usa again that started another fight and started insulting other nations and other opinions.

No, you started insulting people by calling them rednecks, morons, mentally retarded and other things. And you've shown a persistent inability to learn from past mistakes and stop flinging such insults. We tried letting you rant for a while, but the insults continued. Not exclusively from your side, but mostly. And regardless of who starts insults - I'm interested in who can stop it. Since evidently you can't stop them yourself, it will have to be done by the moderators. This thread is now closed.
