Hi,

I just passed the SCEA 5 upgrade exam today with 81%. I think the questions for this exam is from the same question bank as the SCEA 5 part 1 exam (310-052), but there are only 48 questions and the time limit is 2 hours.

For preparation, I used the Sun JEE5 tutorial and the 2nd edition of Mark Cade's SCEA Study guide. Mark Cade's 2nd edition book which is targeting the SCEA 5 exam is not published yet, but I purchased the "rough cut" version from safari.oreilly.com. I would add that I have been working with JEE web applications (including JSF) and Spring/ORM/Hibernate/JPA, and have also used JMS/MDB and session EJB in the past. I also purchased Whizlabs SCEA 5 mock exams a few days ago as I couldn't find enough free mock questions on the internet. I find the whizlabs mock exam totally unhelpful - some of the questions/answers don't make sense and it appears they quickly adapted them from an earlier version of the SCEA exam. The $99 price is definitely not worth it - save your money and get Mark Cade's 2nd edition book as it contains about 40 mock questions, and it serves as a very good summary. There are also 10 free questions from Sun's epractice labs.

Congratulations, Tee! This is the gem of all gems. Welcome to the JEE5 SCEA track!

I just sent you a quick private message through the ranch. It'd be great if you could read it.

A quick feedback on the SCEA Study Guide 2nd Edition by Mark Cade for those wanting to purchase this book.

Just bought this book since its a rough cut I would call it a primer and not a Study Guide (Don't know how final print edition will look like and I will have access to all updates in futures so I don't mind spending 30 bucks). Good thing is it does tell you which JSRs to read. Having given the SCEA 1.4 back in 2007, I know that you have to know the JSRs completely to get good score on the exam. SCEA exam is as such

I will still read the 1st edition of SCEA Study Guide by Paul Allen and JSRs in addition to 'SCEA Study Guide 2nd Edition' for SCEA5.

The best certification book I have liked so far is Head First Servlets and JSP. Amazing coverage or the exam was very easy

HI,

Can you list out the sections/parts in the Sun JEE5 tutorial which are required for the upgrade exam and any other resources used to prepare for it as well

Thanks

Nevermind, after months of preparation I sat and passed this exam as well however the certification title is now named Oracle Certified Master, Java EE 5 Enterprise Architect.

I did not really study into details on a lot of topics like EJB3, JSF and security because most of my times are taken up by work so I didn't obtain a good score, I only had a just pass which is 70% but anyway a pass is a pass.

I used SCEA Study Guide 2nd Edition by Mark Cade, MZ's guide and Sun's ePractice.

Thanks.
