Guys,

I"m really after it on my new Ubuntu partition and I'm trying to install all those softwares that I have been using on my Windows partition. So the next one is OpenOffice. I have downloaded the 32 bit version deb package from the OpenOffice website. I have unpacked it and moved it to the desired location. Now the question come about how to launch it. I followed what is being said in the website below

http://www.howtoforge.com/how-to-install-openoffice-3.0.0-on-ubuntu-8.04

But later got stuck with the installation of the desktop integration. Below is what I get when I tried it.

So as usual I"m looking for some help. I guess Peter would be there to my rescue!

Ubuntu comes with OpenOffice already installed - Applications -> Office -> OpenOffice.org Word Processor, etc. And with Ubuntu 9.10 I believe that it is already the 3.1 version. I just stick with that.

Though I once uses that link (or a similar one) to install a more recent version of OO on and older version of Ubuntu. But I don't recall running into any problems.
