Can someone tell me what is the maximum limit of I/O readbytes allowed for a windows and unix system(32bit/64bit).
Is there any problem in having 17GB of I/O readbytes for a process running on a perticular port.

I think the only problem you will be getting is caused by the amount of memory available. If you try to store too much of that data then you will get an OutOfMemoryError. If you only process at most a few megabytes at a time before tossing those away (e.g. using a readLine(), processing that, then throwing away the line) you should be fine.
