Instantiating abstract class - Spring in Action 2nd Edition

Hi All,

I am reading Spring in Action 2nd Edition book.

The concept of method getter injection is explained like below:[page number:84]

package com.springinaction.springidol;
public abstract class Instrumentalist implements Performer {
public Instrumentalist() {}
public void perform() throws PerformanceException {
System.out.print("Playing " + song + " : ");
getInstrument().play();
}
private String song;
public void setSong(String song) {
this.song = song;
}
public abstract Instrument getInstrument();
}

Here the Instrumentalist class is abstract and author(craig walls) has managed to create object like below:

</bean>

I am getting an exception when doing the same:

Any point to note here? Can some one throw light on this?

Which exception ? You need CGLIB. Did you put CGLIB in your classpath ? And where did you declare the "guitar" bean ?

Cool..It is working..

Actually i am attending Spring sessions and i was taught that we cannot do that way..[because bean will become abstract and instantiating is not possible]

Just wanted to try this..
