Hi,
I planned to appear for SCEA exam in couple of months from now.
I have gone through various post and I undestand that "Sun Certified Enterprise Architect For Java Ee Study Guide (2nd Edition) by Mark Cade, Simon Roberts, Humphrey Sheil"
is best book for this.

Is this book available local in India? or we have to order it online?...

Honestly, I have not read that book. So i am not sure if refering that book only will be sufficent to clear the exam.

As you can see from objectives that there are lot of things to be covered and most of the guys who cleared the exam refered lot of study materal and online articles. I will will suggest please refer those too.

I have never read any post, which says that only book was refered.

Book can help you to do quick revision.

All the Best and in case of doubts use this forum.

Hi,
Like you, I was also looking for SCEA book and ordered the same on Amazon-U.S.A.
How you will feel, if you receive just 150 pages book in $40?
The book is really very short and limited material, even haven't covered all topics.
I think, I have wasted my money as well as time in waiting for this book, took 15 Days.
As we guys are asking questions about the SCEA Certifications Books, I think this was the only reason to publish a book.
But unfortunately, not a good deal in any way.

Hello,

Regarding Java EE Study Guide by Mark Cade, Humphrey Sheil, I partly agree with Gurvinder opinion.
The book is indeed quite short (but has 217 pages, not 150) and cannot be used as only book for SCEA exam.
I also agree, that it should be cheaper. 40$ is to much for such tiny book.
However it is not a bad book and in my case it really helped me.
I just read a chapter from this book and then used another more specialised book, or articles from Internet for more detailed study.

If someone doesn't want to wait for printed version, another option is buying electronic PDF version.
Its cheaper and can be downloaded immediately from safaribooksonline.com for 29$ .
Its worth mentioning that the book contains also one chapter for part II/III of SCEA (example scenario and solution).

One more thing regarding PDF version of this Java EE Study Guide book.
Some diagrams, for example class diagram on page 172, are not readable at all.
They are compressed bitmaps and apparently the compression was too high. I'm going to report this problem to Safari.

I think that the most valuable in this book is the chapter about the assignment, however is is freely available from the authors blog

Hi Pawel,

Purchase the Book and let me know the number of pages which having study material for exam for which, the book has been published.
For Exam 2,3 of SCEA, you need to clear Exam 1. Here is what we are talking about the book for exam and its contents.
I am not counting the total number of pages which is covering the syllabus, other exam syllabus. I hope you understand the contents on other pages.
I was very surprised, when I was reading the UML Part. Its written in 1 paragraph, that if you are aware with documentation/UML, you can move to next chapter.
I don't think, we can have such kind of option in Exam? Yes, this book is unique in this way.
I haven't read any certification book in my life, where author recommends to move to next chapters.

Gurvinder
