Reading data for devices connected to h/w port in cpu (other than System.in)

Hi I am trying to read data from an RFID reader connected to the CPU and this data is previously recorded in database in database. How do I do this.(Eg use case reader reads an id and all related info is retrieved.)

Your best bet would be to track down the vendor of the device and see if there's an API you can use. Most reader devices I've had contact with simply mimic the keyboard, so one would probably use System.in to read data from it.

The device need not be the standard input device of system. The way this device will be used will be analogous to the bar reader used in shopping malls
