Why do I have a Resolved button on topics I start, but others don't on theirs?

I've noticed that on topics I start, there is a button at the top and bottom of the page which says "Resolved". When I click this button, it marks the topic as resolved (the topic icon includes a circle inside the folder). However, others on the Ranch have said they don't see this button on posts they create. Is this not available to everyone for some reason?

I've tried to attach a JPG image of the topic page, so you can see what I'm talking about.

just a WAG here, but we have noticed that sometimes updates don't take hold unless you log out and log back in to the ranch. If you have 'keep me logged in' checked, sometimes changes don't show up even if you close your browser and start fresh.

So what is the change in this case? Is the Resolved button a new feature, or was it removed?

I don't recall seeing that; was that in a public discussion? It sounds like a bug (I don't think logging out and back in makes a difference in this case).

The topic starter claims he doesn't have the Resolved button, even though he was logged-in.

In that thread, David Newton made a comment that he used a button with a check mark on it. I was thinking this was what moderators use to mark another's topic as "Resolved by moderator" so I don't think it applies here.

Another option is that the topic has already been resolved. If a moderator resolves the topic, even if it is not requested by the OP, it will be marked as resolved, the the "resolve" button goes away.

Can you post a link to the topic in question?

However, this topic is marked as resolved by the moderator, so I wonder if that's the case. Sounds perfectly reasonable to me.

Even on topics you've started? I wonder if that's because you're a Moderator? Perhaps you can't mark your own topics as resolved, you can only say "Moderator says it's resolved"?

Are you considered a moderator in all forums? What happens when you start a topic in a forum where you are not marked as a moderator?

I think we're chasing a phantom here. The Resolved button did not appear for the post in question because I had already resolved the topic.

Okay. I guess we'll just not worry about why David as never seen the button. I marked this topic as Resolved

Just went through the last 10 topics that I started. Out of the 10, where I was the OP, 2 were marked as resolved. Out of the remaining 8, all of them have a big brown "resolve" button.
