Hi all,

I am currently working in an MNC for the past 4 years and i am into production support and maintenance activities.

I am working in Java/J2EE, spring, hibernate related technologies.

Though in my current project, they have used all latest technologies like Spring,Hibernate,Dozer etc etc.. we really dont get a chance

to work on them

I am also trying to learn from some tutorials in the net .. but i still i feel one should be involved in pure development to become

strong technically.

I am not sure whether i will get a chance in future. But i am interested in technical work though.

Now, given this situation, i am planning to go for a team lead role in my current project (though i am not interested) as i dont find

any other option now.

I need your valuable suggestions in this regard as i am bit confused.

Also, i am not sure whether one can become a technical architect in Indian service companies as most of the companies have more

maintenance kind of stuff than dev works.

Please help me.

hi raghuraman,

I think you should try to get the development project.

And also in maintenance you can study all the things they have implemented. You can study project architecture, coding, implementations and lot of things. Try to get at least the enhancements work or issue resolution work so that you can get the development confidence.
